WAIVERS

Waivers, or pardons for when there has been an immigration law violation, are an important tool in the practice of immigration law.  Being able to obtained a waiver often marks the difference between an individual being permitted to remain in the United States or having to leave the country.


Academic Students

The "F" visa is for academic studies. An F1 visa is issued to students who are attending an academic program or English Language Program.   These visa have important restrictions concerning the amount and type of employment that a client can accept.


Violence against Women Act (VAWA)

VAWA is a means for battered and abused spouses (and certain parents and children) to obtain a green card without the cooperation of the U.S. citizen or permanent resident relative who is abusing them.




DEPORTATION DEFENSE

Removal defense involves representing and advocating for immigrants facing deportation from the United States.  Depending on your situation, forms of relief may include: Cancellation of Removal, Adjustment of Status, Permission to Reapply after Removal, etc.  The process of evaluating which form or forms of relief an individual may qualify for begins at the first consultation and continues to be evaluated throughout the extent of the client's case.

P visa is a type of temporary U.S. employment visa granted to alien athletes, artists, and entertainers, and their spouses and children.

Humanitarian visas are also known as humanitarian parole in the USA which are documents granted for short-term urgent humanitarian relief, typically for up to one year.




Temporary Protected Status

Temporary Protected Status (TPS) is a status given to eligible nationals of designated countries affected by armed conflict, natural disasters, or some other extraordinary and temporary condition that prevents the national from returning safely to home country.  These grants of this temporary status usually last between 6 to 18 months.


Religious Workers

The R1 visa is a non-immigrant visa that allows religious workers (ministers and persons working in the religious vocation or occupation) to work in the U.S. for a period up to 5 years and eventually apply for a green card for permanent residence.


Fiancee of U.S. Citizen

A K-1 visa is a visa issued to the fiancé or fiancée of a United States citizen to enter the United States. A K-1 visa requires a foreigner to marry his or her U.S. citizen petitioner within 90 days of entry, or depart the United States.
